Net Impact Monthly Event: Climate Change & Policy Update Panel
[More Info, RSVP]

Date/Time/Location: February 8th,  6:15PM – 9PM, The Hub, San Francisco.

Event Summary: Panel discussion followed by networking, a glass of wine and a toast to winter spirit.

Experts from the business, government, and advocacy sectors will address the landscape of climate change policy. Panelist will speak to issues of social justice, bottom-line business concerns, near-term mitigation, and adaptation.

What happened at The United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change 17th Conference of the Parties (COP17)?  The discussion will use COP17 as the backdrop for climate policy issues from international and regional vantage points. Panelists will speak to the connections between climate policy, business concerns and social equity. The question often arises of whether the most effective way to “change the world” is through business or through policy.  Where is the balance point and who goes first?

Panelists:
Kath Rowley – US Director of the Climate Policy Initiative
Tom Athanasiou - Co-founder and current executive director of EcoEquity
Jamie Henn - Co-founder and Communications Director of the international climate campaign, 350.org
Wade Crowfoot - Deputy Director at Governor Brown’s Office of Planning and Research; formerly West Coast Political Director at the Environmental Defense Fund

Organized by Helena Meryman

At the UC Berkeley Haas School of Business (2220 Piedmont Avenue, Berkeley)
$5 for members; $15 for non-members
More Info & RSVP: http://change0212.eventbrite.com/

How often does the thoughtful sustainability strategy, technically accurate human rights policy, or well-intentioned environmental program stall out or lie dormant in an email inbox?  How often do “working groups” have a year’s worth of meetings only to feel frustrated and overwhelmed?

Join us to explore how Change Management approaches are essential to successful achievement of sustainability objectives.  We will introduce Change Management theory and how it can be applied in corporate sustainability work. We will also explore briefly various tools and approaches from Change Management that can be used in sustainability projects.  The session will be participatory with exercises and dialogue throughout.

Stacey Smith and Debbie O’Brien Krackeler from Contigo Partners will lead the session.
